Bye, bye 2006

Bye, bye 2006

The last gig of the year, and of all places, Bangalore, India. Of all places? What does that mean? Anywhere could be ‘of all places’. When asked, “ What are you doing here?” my reply is invariably, “Well, everyone’s got to be somewhere!” So, Bangalore – now it all makes sense.

We have traveled a year’s worth of gigs to get here and what a diverse and wonderful twelve months.

Doesn’t time fly

Here we are in April and as usual I am surprised that the year is nearly a third over. Does everyone go through that? Then again, I have to acknowledge that I’ve been rather busy lately, to say the least. The European tour was a blast, Rapture Of The Deep hitting stride through many countries, and the youth of the audience continues to impress.

The DVD release of the Butterfly Ball concert

In September 1975 I staged a concert of The Butterfly Ball at the Albert Hall, London, and as far as possible gathered together as many of the performers as I could from the recording of the original album, which was released the previous year. The event was recorded and filmed by Tony Klinger and British Lion Films and the resulting movie is what is now being re-released in DVD format by a company called MusicVideoDistributors.

It was fourty years ago today…

1st April 2005. Today is an anniversary.

1st April 1965 – 40 years ago today – I first stepped onto a stage with Episode Six as a professional musician, having decided to drop out of Hornsey Art College.

In Frankfurt, one flight up from the street, it was at a club that could hold about 150 people – The Tanz-Café Acadia, Grosse Friedberger Strasse (I believe it is now a shoe store).

The truth is that Andi sends them to me and somehow life seems to intervene and so they sit on my hard drive covered in digital dust while I galivant off around the place a sif I had somethiing better to do.
